Majnu-ka-Tilla...a must do in Delhi

this is one of those places I have told you about before
but
since I think it's a place worth visiting I will show you again
and with new pictures....
I was here just a couple of days ago..
Majnu-ka-Tilla or  New Aruna Nagar Colony is the Tibetan colony established
as a refuge camp around 1960...
in 1995 it's residents where given a formal assurance that they would be allowed to remain at the site until the international dispute over Tibet was settled..

in the main square you find the temples

with the prayer wheels outside and

the big one just inside....

the other day I got to see the temple with all the oil lamps lit......

so nice and tranquil...

the whole colony is a place filled with small shops that sells everything Tibetan and a lot of other things of course...

lots of jewellery makers...

and shops with fun things decorated with semi precious stones...

along the main street lots of vendors selling for instance real Jak wool blankets....

so cute...and you can really tell that you are among Tibetans....

I don't think I have seen any Tibetan nuns before....
only monks...

if you get hungry you have to go to Dolma House and have some freshly made momos...
they are so good
by the way.... bring cash into the colony...
no ATM's inside...only outside the gate....
