a bloodsucker lizard !

or more commonly known as an indian garden lizard looked at me from a tree the other day.....

he was not a very big guy .....
maybe 30-35 centimeters from head to tail....

during the breeding season the males head and shoulders turn bright orange to crimson and throat black.....or the males turn red after a successful battle with rivals.....thus their gruesome other name "bloodsucker lizard"...

they are also called changeable lizards....they are usually dull brown, grey or olive with speckles or
bands but can be seen in other colours such as bright green....these colour changes may reflect their moods...they are related to iguanas...
and like chameleons they can move each of their eyes in different directions....

so cool...even if it it was a very hot day !
