Just got back from the fireworks and the burning of the evil....and for us almost like new years eve.
Dussehra comes from sanskrit Dasha-hara and literally means "removal of ten" referring to Lord Ramas victory over the ten headed demon king Ravana. It also marks the the victory of Goddess Durga over the demons Mahishasur - victory of good over evil.
It's celebrated by immersing the idols and by going to each others houses and exchanging gifts and sweets.
lots of fire works....felt like it was not totally safe around this place...
it all ended by lighting the evil dolls on fire...
